Info

Bohemian Strawberry Fields: Pop Feminism on the Longest Day
A pop-feminist start to summer at the *Sommerhaus*: To mark the *Fête de la Musique*, proprietors Kersty Grether and Sandra Grether (of the band *The Doctorella*) invite everyone to their coffee bar at Hufelandstraße 43. Under the motto “Bohemian Strawberry Fields,” Café Sommerhaus celebrates the longest day of the year with a high-caliber lineup.
Performing in the indoor area are Berlin indie luminaries Drunk at Your Wedding, Kitty Solaris, and Die Supererbin, as well as the exciting newcomer juwi—artists who are, in many cases, deeply interwoven with the venue’s own concert series, “Ich brauche ein Genie” (I Need a Genius), and the label Bohemian Strawberry. To kick things off, Kersty Grether will give an exclusive reading of her short story about Die Supererbin, taken from the anthology *These Girls Forever* (edited by Juliane Streich), which is set to be published shortly by Ventil-Verlag.
Admission on June 21st is free—an event where pop culture, cool summer drinks, energy, and empowerment meet the very best neighborhood atmosphere.
DRUNK AT YOUR WEDDING, named after an old Bill Callahan song, is the project of Berlin-based singer-songwriter Nina Töllner. She has a penchant for gritty indie rock and traditional folk, paired with a sense for dark narratives and dry humor. As a result, DaYW’s songs constantly take unexpected turns, oscillating between fragile and loud, and embedding catchy melodies into a shadowplay of minor chords.
The second DAYW album “I Have to Go Home” (Bohemian Strawberry, 2021) earned praise from the likes of Rolling Stone, VISIONS, and Kaput Magazin.
The follow-up “Ghost Gear” cares little for classic song structures. Instead, it ventures into shoegaze and stoner rock territory, diving deep into human abyss or the poetic idiosyncrasies of the English language.
